Positively impacting food insecurityacross Canada

In 2015 Compass Group Canada launched Nourish, a one-of-a-kind initiative in the Canadian contract foodservice industry that looks to positively impact a serious and growing problem across Canada – food insecurity.  Through donations of both time and money, Compass works with its employees and suppliers to increase the amount and diversity of fresh, nutritious food available to families in need.

The Nourish program also includes the development of a community garden toolkit to expand fresh food availability across Canada. With food being Compass’ core business, this program includes access to education around nutrition and food safety, wellness and sustainability while leveraging the in-house expertise across Compass’ business to provide volunteer and employee engagement initiatives for its diverse employee base.In partnership with Food Banks Canada, our focus has been on the identification, development and support of local community gardens across the country which allow communities to grow their own fresh produce. Since our inception in 2015, we have supported over 47 community gardens across the country – from Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to Whitehorse in the Yukon to Medicine Hat, Alberta to Richmond, BC.

Compass employees volunteer at special Food Bank events, assist with gardens in their community, and raise funds and food products to support food banks in their communities.

Thank you for your support of this great initiative.  We couldn’t do it without you!
