Compass Group Canada Becomes Member of Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB)

In a significant move towards sustainable food systems, Compass Group Canada (CGC) has become a member of the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB), starting June 2024. This significant step highlights our ongoing commitment to sustainable food systems and responsible sourcing as part of our Planet Promise to achieve net zero by 2050.

We are proud to be the first major Canadian contract foodservice and hospitality organization to join CRSB. This partnership allows us to play a more active role in shaping the future of beef sustainability in Canada.

Established in 2014, the CRSB is a collaborative organization that brings together stakeholders from across the beef supply chain and beyond. Their mission is to advance, measure and communicate continuous improvement in sustainability of the Canadian beef value chain.

As a CRSB member, we are collaborating with other experts across the beef value chain to drive positive change in the industry. This partnership also gives us a chance to learn more about beef production in Canada and to share that knowledge with our customers.

Jennifer Lambert, Director of Sustainability at Compass Group Canada, said “Joining as a member of the CRSB aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable food systems. As the first major Canadian contract foodservice and hospitality organization to become a member, we’re not just adapting to change – we’re driving it. This membership allows us to actively contribute to the advancement of beef sustainability in Canada and reinforces our leadership in within the foodservice sector. Our goal is to not only improve our own practices but also to inspire change across the entire foodservice industry.”

By joining CRSB, we are not just talking about sustainability – we’re actively working on it. We are involving ourselves in creating projects and programs that drive progress in the beef industry. This means we can have a real impact in contributing to supporting improvements in environmental, social and economic aspects of Canadian beef production.

We are excited to welcome Compass Group Canada to the diverse membership of the CRSB,” says Ryan Beierbach, Chair of the CRSB and Saskatchewan rancher. “Their commitment to sustainability and their influence in the foodservice industry make them a great addition. Together, we can make real progress in sustainability across the beef supply chain in Canada.”

As we work together with other industry leaders, we’re excited about the positive contribution we can make to the beef industry and the wider foodservice sector. We look forward to sharing our progress and learnings with our customers and partners as we continue on this journey towards a more sustainable future.
